CQC starting its new assessments from 8 January in London and the East of England

Starting from January 8 2024 in London and the East of England the CQC will start it’s new regulatory approach.

This covers a network of local authority areas, including Bedford, Cambridgeshire, Central Bedfordshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Luton, Norfolk, Peterborough, Southend on Sea, Thurrock, and all London boroughs.

The new assessment framework will apply to providers, local authorities and integrated care systems. The ratings and 5 key questions will stay central to the CQC’s approach and will continue to use the 5 key questions (safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led) and 4-point ratings scale (outstanding, good, requires improvement and inadequate).

As stated on www.cqc.org.uk

Maintaining quality during transformation

Our regulatory transformation programme does not mean that our expectations of care are changing. Our quality statements are pitched at the level of good and are based on the regulations.

We have consistently involved providers in the development of our new technology and ways of working. This will continue during the rollout; with opportunities to engage through our digital engagement platform, CitizenLab, as well as regular support webinars and other engagement events over the coming months. Make sure you keep an eye out for our regular bulletins, webinars and supporting videos.

Guidance

Thank you for your continued support in helping us shape our guidance. We recognise the importance of clear guidance to help you feel ready for our new assessments. You can find information below that covers the different aspects of our regulatory approach, including:
